With the mission of promoting abuse-free Asian communities through advocacy, support, awareness and access to social services, Asian Family Support Services of Austin (AFSSA) is a nonprofit organization based in Austin, Texas, that provides assistance to Asian and other immigrant families dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking.

Casa marianella

Casa Marianella provides shelter, food and full supportive services to immigrants experiencing homelessness.  Two clusters of shelters in renovated houses in residential neighborhoods in East Austin serve women and children escaping violence and adult immigrants.

The Center for child protection

The Center for Child Protection is a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center and the only non-profit in Travis County involved in the investigation of crimes against children. For more than 25 years, the Center has been the first stop for children in Travis County who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect and for children who have witnessed a violent crime.

Magdalene House ATX is a two-year residential program built on holistic care. Their program offers free long-term housing, access to healthcare services and counseling, and job training so that survivors have the opportunity for financial independence. Women become self-sufficient and empowered by living in community.

The refuge

The Refuge for DMST (Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has developed The Refuge Ranch, a long-term, residential, therapeutic community for 48 girls, minors through age 19, who have been rescued out of sex trafficking.

With the creation of the Human Trafficking and Transnational/Organized Crime Section (HTTOC) of the Office of the Texas Attorney General in 2016, Texas is on the forefront of combating trafficking . HTTOC is tasked with combating human trafficking across Texas, and is responsible for numerous prosecutions of human trafficking cases in our state.

American Gateways is one of the largest immigration legal services providers in Texas. Their clients receive culturally sensitive, trauma-informed legal representation from start to finish of a case. American Gateways is also the only nonprofit in the state to provide legal orientation, immigration workshops, and pro bono legal representation at four immigrant detention facilities.

Casa of travis county

CASA of Travis County believes every child who's been abused or neglected deserves to have a dedicated advocate speaking up for their best interest in court, at school and in our community. To accomplish this, CASA educates and empowers community volunteers who ensure each child's needs remain a priority in an overburdened child welfare system. When the state steps in to protect a child's safety, a judge appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendations and help the judge decide what's best for the child.
